Ilaria Mazzocco is a senior fellow with the Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Prior to joining CSIS, she led research on Chinese climate and energy policy for Macropolo, the Paulson Institute's think tank. She holds a PhD from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where her dissertation investigated Chinese industrial policy by focusing on electric vehicle promotion efforts and the role of local governments. She also holds master’s degrees from Johns Hopkins SAIS and Central European University, as well as a bachelor's degree from Bard College.

Joe is co-author (with Paul Ingrassia) of Comeback: The Fall and Rise of the American Automobile Industry, and he and Paul shared the Pulitzer Prize for beat reporting in 1993.

Cory Connolly is climate and energy advisor, leading the Office of Climate and Energy (OCE) within the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). The office coordinates Michigan’s response to climate change across state departments and agencies and provides guidance on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resiliency strategies. As advisor, Cory is key in formulating and overseeing implementation of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's MI Healthy Climate plan, a road map to achieving economy-wide carbon neutrality by 2050. Cory previously served as vice president for the Institute for Energy Innovation and the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council. He also founded the Michigan Clean Energy Leaders Project, was chief operating officer at Levin Energy Partners/Lean & Green Michigan, and worked as a senior research associate at the Environmental Law Institute. Prior to his current position, he was appointed by Gov. Whitmer to serve on the Michigan Council on Future Mobility and Electrification and as liaison to the Michigan Council on Climate Solutions from the Council on Future Mobility and Electrification. He also was recognized with the Midwest Energy News 40 Under 40 award and the Forbes 30 Under 30 award for Law and Policy. Cory earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Michigan State University’s James Madison College, as well as a clean energy project finance and development certificate from Yale University. A native of the northern Michigan town of Northport, Cory now lives in Detroit, where he enjoys playing basketball and tries to travel to Latin America as often as possible.

Julia Hildermeier joined RAP’s Europe team as an electro-mobility and transport expert to explore the benefits of integrating electrified transport in a smarter and decarbonized power market. In addition to providing research and policy analysis, she helps RAP’s strategic planning and outreach in Brussels and beyond. Before coming to RAP in 2018, Dr. Hildermeier worked for the European Federation for Transport & Environment, advocating for a cleaner, fairer, and more sustainable transport system. As clean vehicles and e-mobility officer, she conducted policy research and managed internal and external research projects, co-created and implemented the organization’s advocacy strategy on electro-mobility, and advised decision-makers at the EU level as well as in key Member States. This included expanding stakeholder coalitions and networks, such as the European Platform for Electro-Mobility. Dr. Hildermeier holds a doctorate in sociology from Humboldt University Berlin and Ecole Normale Superieure Cachan in Paris. Her academic work included identifying the path-rupture potential of environmental regulation in the European automotive and transport sector. Previously, while earning a master’s degree in social sciences and serving as a research assistant in an EU-funded project at Berlin’s Center for Social Sciences, she compared the innovation potential of electric vehicle battery politics in Germany and France. Dr. Hildermeier publishes and reviews papers in scientific journals on mobility and climate topics. A native German speaker, she is also fluent in English and French.

Richard Ezike is currently a Program Communications Specialist at the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, where he will be helping with stakeholder engagement and outreach with a focus on equity, environmental justice, and workforce development around the electrification of transportation. The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation supports the deployment of zero-emission, convenient, accessible, equitable transportation infrastructure—coordinating and leveraging activities between the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Prior to the Joint Office, Richard has worked for CHPlanning Ltd., the Urban Institute, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. He had leading policy-making roles in European associations such as PostEurop, FEDMA, and ACEA as well as at the United Nations level (UPU). Joost has also been a member of the cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Economy and director at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, an EU consultancy firm. Before joining ERTICO in January 2022 as Chief Executive Officer, he was the Smart Mobility Director of ACEA for over five years. Joost held positions as chair of the Strategy Committee of ERTICO-ITS Europe as well as a member of its Supervisory Board. He serves also as a member of the Board and Vice President of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Alliance. As a frequent speaker at conferences and author of papers, he engages with stakeholders on European and international policy issues and research and innovation project management issues in mobility and digital agenda context.
